So make the most of it, and see if there’s something you like in this list!

Good deals for hungry (or thirsty) nurses

We’ve got to start with ourselves here. We have a little tradition going on here at NurseRecruiter.com, and it involves sending you free pizza!

Every day this week, we’re picking two lucky nursing teams and sending them a free pizza lunch or dinner. Should it be you and your colleagues? Just follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and respond to our daily pizza posts by telling us why your team could really do with some free pizza! Feel free to tell your colleagues too, you can respond as often as you’d like.

A Cinnabon
classic: it’s a tasty Nurses Week offer you can rely on every year! All week, any healthcare professional who presents their medical ID badge can get a free Cinnabon Classic Roll or MiniBon Roll, or a four-count of BonBites
, at any Cinnabon location.

At Potbelly Sandwich Shop locations around the country, they confirmed to Newsweek, nurses can get a
free fountain drink or cookie with their purchase of a sandwich or salad – take your medical ID or wear your scrubs! Newsweek also wrote that Chipotle confirmed they will be offering nurses a buy-one-get-one deal later, on June 5.

If you prefer tacos and you live in California or Reno, NVJimboy’s Tacos has a “buy one, get one free” action on its Original Ground Beef Tacos for nurses with a valid employee ID until May 12. 3 max per person.

Nurses can get free coffee (and on Friday, a free coffee mug too) at the Country Fair stores, located in the Pennsylvania-Ohio-New York tri-state area.

All Nurses Week, nurses in Florida and Georgia can get a 25% discount on any order at Pollo Tropical. Look up their closest location, take your healthcare I.D., and use code 651 at checkout.

nurses can get a free second meal, salad or bowl when they buy one. The action lasts up through this Friday, just show a valid professional ID!

The Texas Steakhouse & Saloon  has 15 locations in North Carolina, Virginia and West-Virginia, and during Nurses Week, showing your badge will get you
$5 off your bill at at any order of $15 and up.

Hungry for knowledge

We’re listing more special Nurses Week deals for hungry nurses in locally-owned businesses around the country below, but first we want to take a moment to consider a couple of opportunities for a more serious investment.

With the costs of tuition rising even as the demand for qualified nurses remains high, nursing scholarships are a key tool to support aspiring nurses. That’s why we have established our own NurseRecruiter.com scholarship, and we can think of at least five good reasons why you should tell people about this opportunity.

In addition, we’ve partnered with the Safe Passage Foundation to fund a $1000/year scholarship grant to help the extraordinary people who survived being raised in cults to become extraordinary nurses as well.

Others are using Nurses Week to give you a shot at a nursing scholarship. Medical Solutions is running its 7th Annual Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship Contest, with three $2,000 scholarships at stake. You’ll have to hurry though, because the deadline is May 12!

There’s one day more (until Sunday just before midnight) to apply for the “FreshRN FlexPath Scholarship” that is being offered by Capella University and FreshRN blogger Kati Kleber. This is two full-tuition scholarships, in fact – for an RN-to-BSN and an MSN in the FlexPath format. Applicants who don’t win, but did meet all the eligibility requirements can still get a 50% session discount.

Hungry for knowledge, but no need or desire to go back to school? American Nurse Today has an alternative offer:

The American Journal of Nursing has a slightly more modest offer: during Nurses Week, you can read their May issue online for free.

Also not a scholarship, but a fun opportunity to let your favorite colleague know how much you admire them is the BestNursingDegree “Nurse of the Year” Award. You can nominate “an innovative, influential, or inspiring nurse,” and both the winning nurses and the people who nominated them will receive a $50 gift card. Deadline is 5 p.m. PST today though, May 11!

But food, though — and what about free coffee? Special offers from around the country

Any Nurses Week, it’s well worth doing a little Facebook or Twitter search to see what local businesses are running special deals and offers for nurses. From Austin, Texas to Lincolnville up in Maine, here’s a selection of the ones we found!

In Pearland, TX (in the Houston suburbs), Pearland Coffee is offering a free coffee to all teachers and nurses: just bring in your work badge or stethoscope!

There’s more free coffee in Omaha, NE at Kolache Factory, which is actually owned and operated by a husband and wife who are both Registered Nurses!

Pollo Tropical Nurses Week offerSugar Shack Donuts has a different freebie action for nurses and teachers every day this week, and all week nurses and teachers get 30% off their bill at its greater Richmond, VA, area locations!

They’re not all on board, but some locations of Chick-fil-A have special Nurses Week offers too. In Jefferson City, MO, for example, is offering a free Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich with purchase of a medium side item and drink, available still on Thursday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m with valid ID.

Same goes for Zaxby’s – it depends on the location whether they have any special Nurses Week offers. In Evansville and Newburgh, IN, for example, they’re offering 15% off everything with valid nurse ID.

Eastern Standard Kitchen & Drinks in Boston, MA, is extending its 50% employee food discount to all nurses who show their employee ID badge during breakfast from 7am-10am, up through Saturday, May 12th.

“Safety first, drink with a nurse“: the Factotum Brewhouse in Denver, CO is offering free beer! Up through May 11,
anyone who works in the nursing profession gets a second tap beer free, so bring your badge and a friend.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub in Bismarck, ND, is giving nurses 50% off all appetizers this week, just show your ID to your server.

Same deal down in Rehoboth Beach, DE, at Murph’s Beef & Ale: half priced menu appetizers Tuesday through Friday if you show your nursing ID card.

At the Cold Stone Creamery in Evanston, IL (in the Greater Chicago area), nurses receive 25% off their order when they present their ID at checkout, May 7-11.

Craft brew pub Area 23 in Concord, NH, is giving nurses 25% off all food orders today (May 10). Just show them your badge or show up in your scrubs!

In Wilmington, DE, Catherine Rooney’s is giving all nurses — and nursing students too — a 20% discount on all its regular menu items. Stop in anytime during the week with your badge or student ID.

You might not have the patience for fondue after a long shift, but if you’re in Austin, TX and you’d like to take your non-nurse friends out this might be a good deal: one nurse or nursing student ID is enough to get the whole table a discounted four-course menu for $29.95 at The Melting Pot.

Up in Maine’s lobster country, the Lincolnville, ME, Lobster Pound is giving nurses 20% off their check on May 8th-11th. And over in Boise, ID, nurses can get 15% off the buffet at the Pizza Pie Cafe if they show their badge (expires 5/12/18).

No reason to say “no” to a friendly Nurses Week deal even if it’s just a free scoop of ice cream, and that’s what Smiley’s Ice Cream is offering nurses out in Mount Crawford, VA on Friday still – while Rita’s Italian Ice in Warrington, PA is giving nurses who show their ID a free Italian Ice or Custard Cone/Cup on Friday from 12pm to 9 pm.

Searching for scrubs

Like they say on TV, “but wait, there’s more!”

You can rely on pretty much every retailer of scrubs to offer special deals during Nurses Week. For example, Uniform Advantage is having a Nurses Week sale with 50% off many of its prices, Lydia’s Uniforms has a Nurses Week sitewide sale with reductions of up to 25%, and  Scrubs & beyond
 is offering 20% discounts.

We’re confident you’ll be able to find similar deals at most every online nursing supplies store though. And when you go hunting for the best prices, don’t forget to check out the fun and stylish t-shirts for nurses at the online NurseSwag store!
